Weer drie Koala's Geadopteerd

Een andere vriendin (excollega van mij) heeft ook twee Koala's geadopteerd. Aggie en haar man hebben Bago Babe en Ellenborough Nancy genomen.
Bago Babe was brought into the Hospital in a very poor, debilitated condition, weighing just 3.00 kg. She had hair loss on her little chest and was prone to grinding her teeth. This was a sure sign that all was not well with her.
Bago also had a very strange offensive smell exuding from her chest, neck, and upper arms that had us a little mystified as to what it could be. She also had signs of staining around her rear quarters, indicative of Chlamydia, and she was also tending to dribble quite a bit. Her chest was bathed daily and an application of a natural herbal eczema ointment was applied. She was also placed on a course of antibiotics to eradicate any supplementary infections.

En dan komt Ellenborough Nancy daar zijn drie foto's van.

Ellenborough Nancy is probably one of the wildest koalas we’ve had at the Koala Hospital. Harking from the farmlands of Ellenborough, almost an hour’s drive inland from Port Macquarie, she wasn’t used to having human neighbours in the way that the local Port koalas were. An adult female weighing 5.7kg, Nancy was brought in with an eye infection caused by Chlamydia and was admitted to the Sydney University trial for treatment.
As a koala not used to human contact, Nancy wasn’t particularly accommodating to the daily attention of staff, a feeling she made known by a few of her interesting “Ninja-style” swiping manoeuvres that always kept us on our toes. It certainly never got boring with Ellenborough Nancy around! She was successfully treated and returned to Ellenborough where she was happily surrounded by eucalyptus trees, a bubbling brook, and not too many people.

Kijk dat nu toch zitten, je zou hem toch zo als huis dier willen hebben , maar goed dat gaat dus niet.

En dan komt hier Granite Powerball, Aggie haar zoon wilde ook graag een Koala adopteren, en hij heeft Granitie Powerball gekozen.

“Powerball” is a male joey whose mother is Granite Northpower.
On the night of 13th June 2003, Granite Northpower was hit by a car whilst crossing the road in Granite Street, Port Macquarie. Granite Northpower suffered severe damage to her right eye (permanent blindness) and minor damage to her right hindquarters. At the time of the accident, she was carrying a small 365 gram male joey in her pouch who did not appear to suffer any damage.
At around seven months, this beautiful little male joey decided it was time to leave the comfort of mum’s pouch and see what the world had to offer. Staff at the hospital decided to name him “Powerball”.
When Powerball was approximately 11 months old, his mum had had enough of his antics so he was placed into Yard 10 at the Koala Hospital. Yard 10 is where all the orphaned joeys who have been reared by Hospital home carers are placed to “dehumanise” going through an adjustment period, learning to be a wild koala. Powerball stayed in Yard 10 with eleven other joeys until he weighed 3.5 kilos.

Kijk toch eens wat schattig, geweldig dat er mensen zijn die deze beestjes adopteren, want zo kan het Koala Hospital wel blijven bestaan.
Aggie Piet en Mark bedankt voor het adopteren van de Koala's, Lia heeft er ook al een genomen.

En nu hoop ik dat Karin en Aja er ook nog een nemen, maar die zijn nu op vakantie, dus daar hoor ik later wel van.
